Songwriting and Music Theory
Anyone can write songs regardless of music experience. In this course you will identify song parts and structures, create lyrics and melodies and learn how to record and share your songs.
Have you always wanted to learn to read music? If so, then this class is for you! Have you always wanted to play an instrument or sing in the choir but feel intimidated by all of those weird dots, squiggles and lines that make up music notation? You'll learn what they all mean in this class! This course is designed for beginners who would like to learn the basics of musical notation or for musicians who you learned to play an instrument by ear but never learned to read music. For ages 13-adult. Meets weekly for one hour. (Summers only.)
Scales, Chords and the Circle of Fifths
Do you play or write music but would like to have a better understanding of the components of music? This practical course is perfect for pianists, guitarists, instrumentalists, vocalists, songwriters, arrangers and composers who want to broaden their understanding of keys, scales and chords. For ages 13-adult. Meets weekly for one hour. (Summers only.)

HOW TO REGISTER: Because signatures are required, registration must be done in person at Great Northwest Music in the Town Center Plaza on G Street. Classes fill fast, so register early!
